The Flyer is the independent student newspaper of the University of Dayton (Ohio). This past October, with the admission by J.K. Rowling that Dumbledore was gay, the paper ran a cartoon that was deeply offensive. They've since apologized. Continue...

Commentary by Moi:
And now... are we all thoroughly sick of this story? I know I am, but I'm sure this is just the beginning of the jokes, ridicule, parodies and what have you regarding this. Sigh. If it's funny, that's fine, but most of this stuff has not been... the funniest thing I've heard or read, truly, was Dan's comment about Gambon as Dumbledore saying he likes knitting patterns which is, of course, straight from the book. And I'm sure, as J.K. plans and knows everything about her storylines and characters well in advance and that she had to have known she would make Dumbledore gay, why wait until the end to reveal that? Is it a big deal at all? Do we really care? What do you think?

"Many in the UD community were offended by the cartoon that was published in the previous issue of Flyer News. From our staff to the UD community, we would like to sincerely apologize to anyone we may have offended. Our lack of judgement in this case is now obvious. We meant no disrespect and meant no harm. At Flyer News we continually strive to be a publication that accepts and includes everyone. Furthermore, it is not in our mission whatsoever to make anyone feel unwanted or unloved here on campus. As a newspaper at a Catholic university, we now more fully understand our duty to the community to offer a forum for opinion and a place for students to become informed in a nonthreatening way. Several changes have occurred in our editorial process to ensure such an error in judgment never occurs again. We have a new mission."

I think I'd like to see Robin Williams audition for any role in Harry Potter. haha. In this clip, Barack Obama, or Butternuts as Michelle calls him, auditions for the role of Harry. Oh yes he...
